STOP AND
THINK, SD/Wy’s federal grant is through the federal offices of the Administration of Children and Families.
The grant, called the community based abstinence education grant,
or
CBAE grant, was awarded to Stop and Think, SD/Wy in the Fall of 2005. The project period for the CBAE grant is from October 2005 to September 2008.
The CBAE grant was awarded to the Stop and Think program to allow for expansion into more rural areas in Central South Dakota and South Western South Dakota, including the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations, and into Eastern and more rural North Eastern Wyoming.
The CBAE grant pays for those portions of the Stop and Think program including: all school presentations, parent forums, membership and some activities associated with community networking events such as the NH Regional Prevention Alliance, the after-school mentorship program and other non-faith based community activities.
The CBAE grant does not pay for expenses associated with any fundraising activities, political activities or faith-based activities.
STOP AND
THINK staff works hard to diversify funding sources in order to adhere to the strict standards associated with all federal dollars and keep religious, political and fundraising activities separate from those associated with the federal funding.
STOP AND
THINK, SD/Wy is funded in part through a federal abstinence education grant
through the Department of Heath and Human Services, and, in part,
through a federal grant administered through the South Dakota Department
